Howard Burkhart

Howard Burkhart was saved as a child in Miami, Florida. He credits the guidance and direction of several adults who invested in the children¹s ministry at his church for his understanding of God and early discipleship.  During his college years at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, he became involved in the local Baptist Student Union ministry on campus and also attended a local church. Both of these experiences gave a strong focus on missions and he participated in numerous mission trips. In 1979, he served as a summer missionary to Israel. It was on that trip that Howard knew God wanted him to become a missionary, but he didn¹t have any idea as to the specifics. When the church he was attending started a Deaf ministry, Howard took a beginning sign language course. That course was taught by Tina, who is now his wife. After seminary, he and Tina felt God¹s call to serve in work that would reach Deaf people for Christ. Today, that call has been expanded to include church planting among many people groups in California.
