Friday Fabulous Faith and Fun!

Do You Thirst?
Chu drinking soda by Savage Hippie Girl

There is nothing like a free re-fill. Free re-fills mean one thing in our family...you must sprint cup-in-hand to the drink fountains to refill on sugary goodness right before you head out to the car. Chances are we aren't even thirsty, but we just ain't passin' up a deal! Plus, we might get thirsty later. Today, I am offering mommy/wife wisdom to all....97 degrees with a 105 heat index requires a lots of hydration. Many a mommy will send out Popsicles and water melon to the sweaty, dirty masses. Golfing husbands will be sent out with water bottles in hand (despite their whining of " I can get some out at the course, if I need it") and those who choose to exercise, I not being one , will probably grab the largest bottle of Gatorade at the local gas station before heading to the gym to sweat indoors for a mere monthly fee.

Much is prescribed for a healthy, hydrated Western Kentucky day. Do you hydrate your thirsty soul in the same concerned fashion? JOHN chapter 4 tells the well-known story of a Samaritan woman who has come to the well for water. She may have had tons of laundry that day (most likely) and she needed that water to cook, clean, and hydrate herself. Scripture tells us that this woman came to the well in the sixth hour (probably around noon), the hot, middle eastern sun already beating down with rays of hot fire. Her cool breeze was felt in the presence of a visitor who needed a drink from the well. Jesus utters this precious response to her Samaritan insecurities...

John 4:10: "You do not know the gift of God. You do not know who asks you for water. If you did, you could ask me. I would give you living water."

Jesus goes on to offer her an ever-lasting solution.

John 13-14: Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

When you head out the door, do you run cup-in-hand for a refill? Maybe your aren't thirsty. You might be later. Maybe you just think it tastes very refreshing. There is no limit for you. No mom saying, "That is enough soda for one day, young lady!" Fill your thirst....the fountain offers so much to rehydrate you....Bible study, prayer, fellowship with sisters/brothers in Christ....It's free...It's all for you! Resplendent Day!
